06_12_2012 Rocking the House

The "Rockers" showed up early today ready to get busy. They moved quickly! They started in the new room, then the dining, then kitchen and finally the living room. They used big 12' sheets of drywall so visible progress was fast. The details of wrapping all the windows plus seven skylights took more time. They did not quite get finished, though it was close. A few guys are here this morning wrapping up a few big sheets and details. During the day, DG was outside doing all sorts of needed things. Lots of rotting trim boards needed to be replaced. Plus, some trim that never got installed on the back porch was added. He used concrete board instead of wood. This stuff will outlast all of us. Yay! Today I meet with landscaper #2 to get a bid. The first crew, though very nice, offered a RIDICULOUS bid - 16k!!! Yes, 16k to do our front yard. It's not a big front yard. It's not even a medium sized front yard. It's a small one! 16k? Uh, no. I look forward to seeing the yard put back together and having some opportunities to plant more flowers. I didn't realize how much I enjoy doing that until I don't have the opportunity to do so. Now I just try to baby the ones that have survived this! Free Blog Counter
