06_07_2012 Electrical, Wood Flooring and a Helpful Squirrel

Lots of good stuff going on in the house. Last week was a little slow as we waited for an opening in the electrician's schedule. Some little things got done - but nothing really picture worthy. The electricians - John and Josh - showed up and got busy. Lots to do and they did it. It took a little more than two days. Pretty fun watching them work. Good news is we had plenty of room in our electrical panel so no additional and unexpected expense there. While they were here, we had a hungry and friendly squirrel. She was a funny and big girl who wasn't too afraid to come right into the house to see what was going on. She was at the feet of the electricians! I rewarded her with some sunflower seeds. Cute squirrel. After electrical was done, the wood flooring company returned to put in the new wood floors in the addition. Quite interesting watching them work. A tar-paper moisture barrier goes down first. Then the tongue-and-groove wood. Each piece of wood is 3/4" thick. Not sure why this surprised me so much, but it did. Pretty cool watching these guys work. The floor was put down really quickly. Dave came home from work to see the job about half done. No sanding or finishing happened this day - they'll come back for that post-sheet rocking. After the floors were done, the city inspector came buy to do a rough-in and electrical inspection. All went well so we were cleared for insulation! Some of the insulation got done yesterday. We all awaited their return eagerly this morning only to learn the spray foam insulation truck broke down. No insulation today. They'll come tomorrow morning (Saturday) early. This will keep us on track for the sheet rocking to begin on Monday as well as the insulation inspection Monday. The sheet rock guys says it'll take about four days to do the house. One to get all the panels up. The rest to tape and float and sand and texture and all that magical stuff. Happily, humidity is about 1% so everything will dry quickly. After the sheet rock goes in, I think the kitchen cabinets can be installed. Things are looking great! Free Blog Counter
