06_10_2012 Eldorado Climbing

Our objective today: Eldorado, specifically Rincon Wall. It was a perfect day except that the huge fire north of us had the air nasty and hazy. Still, we endured and hiked up the trail to the wall. We arrived to find....no one. Not a soul. We think that may be a first for a Sunday afternoon with perfect weather in Boulder - no one at Rincon. It was awesome! We warmed up on the 5.8 at the end of the trail. Then Dave did the 5.10 variation of Rincon. Then we moved up the scree to our real objective: Over and Out and Over the Hill. I did this combination with a girlfriend over a year ago and remember loving it. Happy to get on it again. We headed up and had a great time. The top pitch - Over the Hill - is my favorite pitch of climbing in Eldo I think! Such fun. Tiny edges. Super proud lead by Dave as far as I'm concerned. We hiked back to our stuff and headed back down the scree/trail. Dave did one last climb in the broiling and direct sun. He announced afterward he was better of having not done it - hot and greasy! Ew. We headed back to town and enjoyed a nice dinner in the pop-up. Tomorrow sheet rocking starts in the house. We are really looking forward to seeing it come back together!! Free Blog Counter
