March 31 to April 11, 2018 - Dave in Arizona

Late March/early April, Dave headed out to Arizona for some birding, climbing, and riding. He spent some time in Portal, as well as the Tucson area.

He was able to photograph some of the common birds found there. Here (above) is a Bell's Vireo.

The always stunning male Vermilion Flycatcher posed for Dave!

A Gila Woodpecker is searching the cactus for insect treats.

A gorgeous Raven!

A favorite bird! Some call this a Desert Cardinal - and it is one of three Cardinals in the world. It's name is the Pyruloxia. There call is much like a Northern Cardinal's call.

A beautiful Curve-Billed Thrasher.

A sweet little Buff Breasted Flycatcher.

A Great Horned Owl! Owls are always a treat to see!

A beautiful male Scott's Oriole. These are really treats to see!

Dave took his newest "last bicycle ever" on this trip. It's his new road bike, and it's a beauty.

Camping on Mt. Lemmon is always a part of this trip.

Greg and some climbing friends joined Dave in AZ for some climbing.

More climbing

Looks like lots of fun was had.

Silver Peak in Portal Arizona. Dave hiked up to the top of Silver Peak (not shown). Really nice hike, no people at all!

Enjoying the summit of Silver Peak in Portal.

A nice view on the hike down from Silver Peak.

Dave also headed to Tucson to climb and ride. Topping out on Mt. Lemmon after riding from Tucson up.

When in the Tucson area, one has to ride up Mt. Lemmon on their bike. Dave did just that with his new road bike. Here is a view at Windy Point on one of his stops.

In Tucson, there is the Agua Caliente Park. It had a lot of great birds in a place he least expected to find them!

The pool view from a house Dave looked at in the Tucson area. Potential retirement location? Maybe!

In the Tucson area, Dave stopped to look at a home. He's been thinking hard about the possibility of retiring in the Tucson area. He had a realtor give him a look at a gorgeous home. It could be ours - except that I have to still work. :/

While birding, he ran into 1000s of caterpillars swarming around. There were EVERYWHERE!

On his way home, he stopped in Raton Pass NM.
