December 25, 2018 - Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas! It's our annual Christmas blog to share with family members in other states the opening of gifts they sent. As is usual, we start of with some photos in front of the tree.

I look shocked for some reason. More latte please!

First gift of the morning is a cat toy sent from Rachel and Jim. It was a massive hit. In fact, as you'll see, this blog is a bit cat heavy because she was playing the entire time!

The toy didn't say it had catnip, but I have a sneaking suspicion there was some herb on this toy!

Stoned cat.

Dave trying to open a gift but being distracted by stoned Pente.

Non-stop playing!

Thanks to Rach and Jim for the bow tie. Dave will wear it in his woodshop! (blog coming).

Does this cat ever tire?

Super stoned.

Dave checking out his next gift from my mom and dad...

A set of tropical bird wine glasses. They are super cool!

I already took them away from him. :)

A huge surprise! A small rotary cutter from Dave. Wonder how he knew I wanted this? (Maybe because I handed it to him in the store?)

Rachel and Jim sent Dave a wooden eco watch.

And a wooden kiwi for me!

Rachel and Jim also sent a swing sculture

Dave trying to open this gift without using his hands.

A cork wallet that I made. It's hard to see in this photo but it is a deep blue, but sadly it had no money in it.

Doug and Mary sent this awesome book. It took a while to resume opening after Dave started going through this book. It does look spectacular!

Amazing photos in the book

Dave got some bath smell-good stuff from y mom and dad.

Rachel and Jim sent a cup that is the right size for my lattes!

Some hot pads that my mom made and sent - these are certainly useful

Mom and dad sent this sweater. I am in dire need of shirts!

Next up is a cat toy from my my brother and his family (again, erroneously initially credited to my folks! derp).  We loaded this one up (it's abdomen is designed for this) with cat herb.

As you can see, Pente loved it!

Wonder clips from my mom and dad. No one can have too many wonder clips!

My brother and his family sent an appropriate book - especially given the shenanigans of the entire morning!

She has endless energy!

Whooooaaaa!

My brother and his family sent Dave some fun reading (sorry - I originally typed that my mom and dad sent this).

And my brother and his family sent some excellent reading material for me.

Mom and dad sent Dave a set of socks that he'll find really useful here.

My brother and his family sent a bracelet and earrings

They also sent Dave some chunky climbing chalk which is super useful.

Finally, I get to smell good courtesy of my folks.

From my brother and his family!

Our annual calendar from our friend Steve Williams...

Cats Against the Bomb!

Steve also sent me a book I've been wanting. I'll get this thing read today!

This is a treat from Steve. I used to own this VHS, loaned it out, and it was never returned. It's a classic!

Another fine gift from Dave -My current acrylic ruler has most of the numbers and lined rubbed off. That makes for some challenging measuring!

As hoped for, a black turtle neck from my parents.

A couple of hand towels which will go perfectly in the new bar once it's completed in the basement, thanks to my parents.

Okay, maybe not a surprise, but I desperately needed a new phone (purchased 11 days before).

Steve sent Dave a PT item. Hint: it hurts when someone hits you with this!

Magnetic Pin Cushion from my folks. Yes, the magnet works...

Even on bird toys my sister and her husband sent!

Dave had asked for a tool kit, and Santa mom and dad came through!

My annual year in stamps, (Nerd alert!) from my parents.

The gift pile...

Then making a special guest appearance - the T-Rex that lives in our home. He'd found a bottle of mezcal!

He was wobbly, and drawn to the sparkly lights on the tree.

He tried to put the bottle down, but it was a challenge with his little t-rex arms.

This may or may not be a mating dance done for the tree??

The tree was not impressed.

Next T-Rex wandered to the living room...

He was on a mission

Looking for warmth from the fire place, but he was disappointed...

His arms were too short to turn it on!

Last sighting of the T-Rex this morning...
