Long distance is for the birds!

Initially, we traveled a lot to see each other. Admittedly, I went to Boulder more than Dave came to St. Louis. There was simply a lot more things to do in the Boulder area. And we kept busy doing them!

One one trip to Boulder, we climbed the Maiden. This dolphin-shaped rock was as much to climb as it was to rappel.

Here is Dave heading up the last pitch. On top, there are little pools of water with life in them. And of course, a spectacular view of the Boulder area.

The view from the summit is beautiful. This photo is deceiving because it appears we are sitting on a large section of wall. In reality, the Maiden is a free-standing summit. See:

The rappel was cool. The bulk of it is free air. Great fun!

Our time together in Boulder included bike-riding, cooking, having friends over for dinner, meeting climbers out for drinks. It was always a fun and busy time.
