06_23_2014 Day Two BTC - Montrose to Ouray

Day two was a relatively easy day - only 36 miles. It was gently uphill the entire way, with 2,800 feet in elevation gained.  Not really much to comment on but there was a lot of traffic on this leg. Lots of pretty views. One rest stop. The destination - Ouray - was the prettiest view. It's a gorgeous town!
Hungry riders at the only aid station.  I mistakenly thought there were two aid stations and was baffled at how I missed the second one. The second one didn't exist. Derrrrr.
Dave rode with the camera all week. Here is a cool arty shot of his bike at the aid station.
A view along the way.
Selfie!!
A common view en route to Ouray.
Entering the city limits of Ouray. Gorgeous!
Here is my view lounging at our campsite.
A nice view for sure!
The camp sites were going up fast!
Lots of rock in the area. The locals have established somewhere around 200 short rock climbs in the area.  Pretty cool!
It's a small space, but there was room for everyone.
Since it was a short day, we walked into town and had some lunch. All other days we skipped lunch and just munched at aid stations.

We ate at Buen Tiempo, a Mexican restaurant.
We were watched while we ate. We were not able to coax this Black Billed Magpie down for a chip though.
Dave needed a new tire so after lunch, he did bike maintenance and put on his new rear tire. Nice to know it's in good shape.
And he chatted on the phone with his dad and family members...
The photos just don't do Ouray justice. It's called the Switzerland of America for good reason.

We had to walk into town for our food. Not too bad given the views including this one of this beautiful old building.
See what I mean about the views?
We headed back to camp and got to bed - the next day had three mountain passes as we head to Durango, Co.
