06_28_2012 Boulder on Fire

As I mentioned, we've had some really hot and low low humidity weather lately. Much of the front range has been burning including monster fires in the Fort Collins and Colorado Springs area. About 600 homes have burned.
It was only a matter of time before we got it. Lightning ignited many fires in Boulder the day I returned from Houston. The spookiest being Bear Peak. From our front yard we watched it smoke and grow and fire fighting efforts. The news referred to it as the "Flagstaff Fire." The fire was in fact on Bear Peak though.
I did not get any good photos and found these I'm showing on the web. Google "Flagstaff Fire" or "Bear Peak fire" and see other scary images. Happily, the fires are out now but now before many evacuations and pre-evacuations were put in place. We were several streets from these, but still too close for comfort. Now we are getting monsoon rains so the fires are out and danger is reduced. Hoping to never see that sort of stuff from the front yard again.  Free Blog Counter
