07_09_2012 House Construction Update

Lots going on at the house lately. In general, Chris the contractor and Derrick have been dancing. Here Chris is offering a rendition of Madonna's "Vogue".  Excellent!

Aside from dancing, lots of big and little things have been happening. The house got painted. It's almost done - the outside is completed though torrential downpours have thwarted the painter's every move. Looks awesome!
Our old trim color had faded substantially. Nice to see it fresh again! Even with a war-zone front yard still, the house looks great.
Another view of the freshly painted house.
The painters have been trying to get the inside painted too. The humidity (today at 98% without rain) is really making it difficult. It's taking a long time to dry and the tape is not sticking to the walls. I sit here now with all windows closed and the heaters running hoping to get some moisture out of the air. All that remains is the ceiling. You can't really see the wall color in any of these photos so you'll just have to wait. Suffice it to say it is not like the old red/rust color that was in the dining room.

Before the house was draped in plastic, the cabinet installation was completed. They look great and the new open concept continues to thrill us.

Today the granite countertops arrive and will be installed! I'm really excited to see that happen! I hear footsteps outside right now. maybe that is them?  We'll have to cover them right away so the painters can return. I'll try to grab some photos before that happens. Indeed, the granite people are on the phone...minutes away.

The appliances arrive on Friday. Floor finishing happens when the painters finish. Landscapers come at the end of August (they are BOOKED!). Then clean up. We'll have some other little work done, but by then, the bulk of the work is done. All that will remain is the party!  Free Blog Counter
