04_15_2012 Drilling Foundation Thingies!

Once the lot was prepped, the contractor needed to get with the engineer for some stuff on the foundation. No footers on our foundations here - we need some helixcal (or something like that) piers drilled. So this day was the day the guys drilled these piers.

I totally missed it all! Chris, the contractor did take some photos happily (Thanks Chris!).

So the big machine actually drilled these metal poles into the ground until they reached bedrock and offered a particular engineered amount of tension. Then they stop.

Next up, the workers ties these piers into rebar. Forms are put up and concrete poured. Chris did grab video, but I don't have the heart to wrestle this software right now to post it. Maybe later.
