2_17_to_3_1_2017 Portrero Chico - Dave and Mark

Did a really fun 10 day trip to Potrero Chico Mexico with my friend Mark in late February.  Here's an early morning view of the main 'Toro' formation early on the first morning.  The walls are about 2500' tall on the longest facets.
A view of the Toro from the other side of the canyon while climbing "Estrellita".  For our first day in Potrero, Mark and I climbed Estrellita (12 book pitches, 5.11a) and Space Boyz (11 book pitches, 5.10d) for a great combination!
View up canyon from Estrellita.
On the summit of Estrellita.  This is where I proposed to Callie in February 2009 :-)
Mark checking out the Toro from the summit of Estrellita.
An interesting vendor trailer in the canyon.
Looking down as Mark comes up pitch 4 of Space Boyz, really fun climbing but a little hot in the sun, the shade would come soon though :-)
Mark leading pitch 5.
On the summit of Space Boyz, great view and a great day of climbing!
Looking down on the spires from the summit of Space Boyz.
The view of Potrero and the Toro from the front porch of our rental apartment.
Hanging out on the front porch of the apartment.
Bruno, the resident dog of Don Hernando, the owner of the apartment.
The entry 'gate' at Potrero Chico.
Hands starting to get sore after a few days of climbing.
I think this pool needs some maintenance before Mark dives in!! ;-)
Mark getting in some morning reading on the beautiful grounds outside our apartment ;-)
Goofing around on the local architecture.
Morning shadow on the Toro
Mark on pitch 3 of 'Pitch Black' in Potrero.  A really fun 6 pitch 10d route.  Good stuff!
Feeding some fresh grass to a local :-)
An okay 10c arete climb somewhere on the shady side.
Mark coming up a nice shaded route above the pool complex at the park.
Digging the view and position!
Mark coming up pitch 5 or so of Black Cat Bone, a fun 11 pitch 10d.
Looking through the rock fall induced gaps in the picnic "shelter" ;-)
Nameplate at the base of "Timewave Zero", a very cool 23 pitch route we did on thankfully the coolest day of the trip :-)
Mark on the lower portion of Timewave Zero.
Looking up into the Potrero from low down on Timewave Zero.
The jungle walk across atop the 8th pitch of Timewave Zero.
Coming up pitch 15 or so, great views!
Goofing around with a pocket hold :-)
Mark coming up the final ridge pitch to the summit.
Summit team selfie!

Old grey haired guy on the summit.
Looking across the summit ridge.
Funny signs on Checo's restaurant.
Quality and safe electrics at Potrero!
Signalling the 100 pitch mark for the trip on the last day.  Good times and sore fingers for all!
