1_30_to_2_06_2017 Joshua Tree - Dave

The weather looked good and the flight tickets were cheap so I shot out to Joshua Tree at the end of January for a week.  I flew into Orange county and by late afternoon I was climbing in Josh :-)
Cruising around just before sunset.
Watching the sun set from the Space Station in Josh, one of my favorite places :-)
Con trails, Joshua trees and rocks :-)
Pointing at one of many climbing adventures on the trip.
View of a formation with a very cool arete climb behind the yucca.
Barker Dam was overflowing with the heavy spring rains and snow which California needed badly, very cool!
A Cholla with nice back lighting.
An old miners camp I found while doing an exploratory backcountry hike.
Pretty rustic kitchen or whatever.
At the base of the amazing finger crack, Equinox.  Originally rated 5.13a, this is one of the hardest and most beautiful thin crack climbs in the desert.  Maybe in my next life ;-)
Some cool cross-bedded granite blocks out in the Jerry's Quarry area.
Leading a fun 5.10a dike traverse route in the Jumbo Rocks area.
Ralph proudly displays one of his cams ;-)
Eve following "Run For Your Life", a classic Joshua tree 5.10 face climb.
Me, Ralph and Eve on top of a formation in the Rock Garden Valley area.
Eve making a boulder hop on the hike out of Rock Garden Valley.

It was a really fun winter trip to the desert!
