10_17_2010 Dave is improving

Dave is doing better. He's off the pain killers so he's feeling better and much easier to deal with! He did a lot of sleeping the first several days (not surprising). And he tried to do all sorts of things that would get him in trouble with his surgeon.

If the pain killer bottle said not to do it, he was trying to do it! He was pure rascal. I thought of taking some of the pain killers myself after a while. Ha!

He made himself a nice mouse pad platform that enables him to use the computer. That's been great and means he'll be able to get back to work. Plus, it just makes him happier to be able to do more normal things.

He even found a website devoted to people who have had this injury. They discuss all aspects of it. Pretty crazy - there really is a website for EVERYTHING. We are now just trying to prepare mentally for the sight of his arm once the cast comes off. He's been warned, he's read about it, the surgeon told him it will suck, but I think we'll still be shocked at how skinny it is when it's revealed. That happens on the 25th. We'll of course get some photos.

Dude - just switch to a mouse-ball and use it L-handed. Easier on the shoulder in the long run!
