06_07_2011 Peru Expedition Update

Briefly heard from Dave so I have a short update. They (Andy, Alex, Quinn and Dave) spent the last five days or so in a valley where two peaks were summitted. The first was Ishinca which all four successfully accomplished (See photos 1 and 2 - lifted from the internet since I don't have access to their photos yet).

Dave had been feeling sick since he arrived so he opted to stay at high camp to try and get better while the other three summitted peak #2 (see photo 3)

Peak #2 - Tocllara - was summitted by Quinn, Andy and Alex. After that, they all four descended back into Huaraz for a couple of days. Dave is feeling better - though not 100%.

Tomorrow the four will head back up into a valley to attempt the third peak of the trip - Chopicalqui. This ascent will be 'light and fast.'

They will be out of contact for another 4 or 5 days once they leave in the morning. It is funny to think that he is up at an elevation that is at minimum of 10,000' (and up to 22,000') and I'm at 9' in elevation and 100 degrees. Life is funny.
