01/20-21/09 - Shelf Road Climbing & The Royal Gorge

Given the beautiful weather we've been having, we decided to head down to Shelf Road for a couple of days of limestone climbing. Shelf Road is in Southern Colorado somewhat near to Colorado Springs.

I was property attired given it was inauguration day.

The shirt didn't last long, and the pants were quickly rolled up because the weather was amazing!

The weather was amazing - shorts climbing weather. There were almost no other people there either. With the exception of a dog named Sasha and the dogs minions(we knew the dog's name since the owners yelled "Sasha, come here" about 4 billion times) things were super peaceful.

Both days we climbed at the Cactus Wall. No telling what we did and didn't get on. We just climbed until the sun was setting.

In the evening, we stayed in town and ate Mexican food.

Then we retired to the hotel to behold some of the best-worst television ever. We watched something called Tool Academy. AMAZINGLY BAD. I couldn't look away! If you want to learn more, see: http://www.vh1.com/shows/dyn/tool_academy/series.jhtml. Dave got a kick out of "Cash Cab." That is pretty fun to watch though it is not bad tv at all.

The following morning, we drove up to the Royal Gorge and looked around waiting for it to warm up a bit. It was quite beautiful there with the "world's highest suspension bridge". There is also some old train cars and fire truck. Very cool.

Plus, there were those things others put money in to look through. To us, they are simply tools of amusement! Monkey see - Monkey do!

It was a good time and nice to be outside with the hot sun. Summer can't be too far off can it?

Until summer arrives, we do have a couple of trips planned. The first takes us to exciting New Jersey! Then we'll head to Mexico for a couple of weeks of hot climbing. Can't wait!

Man what is the world coming to! Only, what 1, maybe two trips up the Edge in '08 and now - in 2009 - a new year, a new beginning -- clipping bolts! Yeah o' lord, the end draws nigh!
