Yes, these photos are a bit disorganized. We've been so busy and I'm feeling behind just getting them posted. I've posted all the cool birds. This entry is devoted to the people - Dave and Callie.
Our first stop was the Alamosa Wildlife Refuge for some bird watching and photography. It was really productive though the number of birds wasn't really that impressive.
We had dinner in the wacky Mexican joint (Cavillos) which was fun. The margaritas - though sweet - were a nice way to end the day.
The next day, we drove to the Great Sand Dunes. Last year when we were there, I could barely walk. This year, I had new feet that were happy to go anywhere. Too bad this year came with huge gusting winds. Let me be the first to say that being in 800' of sand is not where you really want to be during 40-50mph wind gusts. It hurts. A lot.
Still, we hiked to the top. The summit photo of me tells the entire story. Ow ow ow ow ow. I am still picking sand out of body crevices.
The next morning, we drove to Shelf Road to do some climbing. The big wind was here too. Not super pleasant. In fact, after a wee bit of climbing, we just went home. It was nice to be home out of the wind. We timed it right too - the next day was beautiful and we got a ride in to Jamestown. My first ride of the year. Hopefully the weather cooperates so we can get lots more in soon.
