Boulder is a fun city for many reasons. A group here recently hosted a "run naked" event through the streets. Someone was recently in trouble for dying their poodle's fur pink (cruelty some said). Not to mention the many icons in town: Blue car man, the little professor, etc.
Another fun aspect of the city is the weekly Boulder cruiser ride. Check out the website at: http://cruiserbikeride.org/. You may need to login to see the photos. It's worth the login - the photos are hilarious (and they send no spam). So, every Thursday evening, a group, or better, a mass of people gathers at Wahoos Fish Tacos to eat. From there, everyone gets on their cruisers and we ride through town exclaiming "Happy Thursday". Many people are dressed up in wacky costumes - - each week has a theme. Many people have "normal" cruisers, while some have some zany cruising machines. For instance, last night the picnic table bike was out. Yup - a picnic table powered by about four people sitting at it peddling. You just have to see it to understand it.
Most in the city love it. People come out of their homes to wave. People in cars honk with delight. It's really fun. Sure, there are some who scowl - after all, they've had to wait 10 seconds for some bicycles to go by. Clearly their day has been ruined. Happily, these grumps are in the minority.
Last night was the biggest ride of the year in terms of participants - the Lingerie and pajama party night. Riders showed up in all sorts of PJ's. Many men wore only their tighty whiteys. Some women wore (too) little. Some men wore women's lingerie and wigs (hilarious).
Dave and I opted for more conservative pajamas. And for the special occasion, I finally got my own cruiser to ride! It's a hot pink beauty. It has lights and a nice bell to ring incessantly during the ride. I especially love the tassles on the handlebars.
The ride was a blast. I'll add more photos from the event when they are posted on the cruiser site. For now, enjoy the few silly shots we took in the front yard before leaving for the ride.

I am so moving there. I hope Dave feels better!
If you don't mind mentioning, what type of road bike do you have? I am in the market for a faster bike.
:) Beth
Wow, you two are a cute couple. Did you hear that the ride has been shut down? Bummer
