He was still coughing and sick but convinced himself he was good enough to climb. The weather looked bad but he thought it would be okay. :/
Larry the Lizard did not approve of the rain they drove through.
By the time Larry the Lizard and Dave arrived in Tensleep the weather had cleared.
He found the campsite at the Boulder Campground where Bob, Michelle and other assorted climbers in the group were staying.
Dave found a nest of Chipping Sparrows in a sage bush. You can barely see the mama bird's eye and chestnut head in the center of the bush.
Another pretty view of the camping area.
Lupines were blooming all around (yes, all you Texas folks call them Blue Bonnets - but those are just Lupine endemic to Texas). In Colorado, we call ours Lupines. Pretty nonetheless.
It's quite a pretty area.
At the campsite - Michelle, Bob and Liza.
Hiding from the heat are Grant and Chad from Alaska. We'd heard a lot of great things about Grant and Chad - nice that Dave was able to meet them finally.
Approaching one of the walls for some climbing
At the wall. Looks like Grant on the route, Michelle, Chad, Liza and Bob at the base.
Dave climbed, but he also relaxed. His cough/crud still had a decent hold on him.
Walking to/from the crag.
Michelle on the wall...
An expansive view of Tensleep Canyon.
Enjoying being outdoors
At one point, the Chipping Sparrow left her nest so Dave was able to get a photo of the four eggs.
On a "rest" day, Dave did a mountain bike ride.
Pretty view
The trail during the mtn bike riding. No endless baby-heads like in CO. Nice!
Near camp, Dave found a nest of Red-Breasted Sapsuckers. The babies in the nest hole were making quite a fuss!
The crew went into town for some dinner. It's not a large town at all (pop 257 - see http://www.city-data.com/city/Ten-Sleep-Wyoming.html), but it has some funny shops.
Sounds terrific!
The bank
Nice view of Tensleep Canyon. Dave was on his way home when he learned Pente was sick. It was a whirlwind period!
