Plus we each wrote in a card for Dave welcoming him home. It was a good trip for him to go to Tennessee, but he was very tired and felt sick.
Another view of the cake
The girls blew up the balloons. Mom tied some. One package we had had gone bad (low humidity) and balloons that were created would explode unexpectedly scaring us and the cat pretty good. Plus, they blew up into a zillion tiny pieces each. Big mess.
I made a platter of turkey sandwiches to go with cole slaw mom had already made.
Mom also tied strings on several of the balloons.
We knew when Dave got off the bus from the airport so the girls took up spy positions outside so we could surprise him when he walked in the door.
Dave walked in to a big "SURPRISE" and was shown our magnet work.
Because one cannot affix magnets to our refrigerator, Dave suggested we try the corners of the sheet rock (metal corners are under the plaster) and voila! We had a place to affix our 7,500 new magnets. :)
Dave opened his cards
Check out the photo magnets I made. I adore these! I can see Ruby, Malachi, baby Grace, Dayle, Ferne (twice), Hector, Benson, Ferne in the shower (first shower ever) and me. Fun stuff!
Dave opening cards...
Hannah took a photo of the cards, cake and us.
Then we ate. Good food! Then we played with magnets a bit more and headed off to the tour.
No cameras are allowed in the tour, so it's just as well I had forgotten mine at home. Mom got this photo after the tour and time in the gift shop. This photo cracks me up!
We got home and Chef Zoe managed the kitchen. He menu included a COLOSSAL chicken in a bag, zucchini fries, basmati rice and some rolls. All delicious!
