The primary goal was a biathalon that Greg had suggested. They were going to mtn bike up a trail from town to Tom's Thumb. Then they'd solo Tom's Thumb and head back to town.
This is Greg's before photo. This photo makes me wish he had some teenagers as they could appreciate this awesome hair as only teenagers could. :)
The mtn bike trail they went to do went to Tom's Thumb in the McDowell Mtns from the west side of Phoenix.
Here is a photo when they are fresh at the beginning.
Beautiful terrain
The trail was burly! But eventually they made it to Tom's Thumb for a quick solo to the top.
On the way back down with Tom's Thumb in the background. The trail was burlier that Greg remembered. And it was hot. It is Phoenix. :)
Still, it is beautiful (hot) terrain.
A bit of a rest
Not as fresh looking as they get closer to town. A little closer anyway.
There is Phoenix waaaaay down there. Break Time!
On top of Tom's Thumb, Greg pulled out the summit register. This snazzy book was made by none other than Greg himself!
Phoenix in the background

Cactus bloom on the trail
Rest stop
Back in the parking lot with Tom's Thumb in the distance. Not looking quite as fresh after the Biathalon Roastathon.
Beer. Where's my beer?
Back at the house - Felicia, Greg, Riley and Ginny.
True love. :)
Match made in heaven. :)
