Until then, it's time for some new bird photos. These are from the last six weeks or so around Boulder. For whatever (welcome) reason, it's been mostly blue birds we've seen! Enjoy.
First bird shown is the ubiquitous Spotted Towhee. They are striking! And obviously not blue. A few non-blue birds made the cut. Below you'll see a Chipping Sparrow too.
Our first blue bird is that Lazuli Bunting. Gorgeous!
And joyful!
The Lazuli Bunting...
One of Dave's favorites is the Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher - they are little and they are feisty!
The little eyebrow indicates this one is a male.

Here is a nice picture of a young Chipping Sparrow. He was content in a tree on the South Mesa Trail.
Another bird that is out of range is the amazing Rose-Breasted Grosbeak!!
I still haven't seen him, but Dave got to. I did get to see the female though (brown, streaky).
A relative of the Lazuli Bunting is the Indigo Bunting. Technically, he shouldn't be in town but it's his second year here. He's really a treat to see!
Another shot of the Indigo
Like his friend the Lazuli, the Indigo Bunting is a hearty singer!

Another neat blue bird is the Blue Grosbeak. We've seen several around this year. They are gorgeous and feisty.
I always find it odd that birds are blue. They're a treat to see.
