It wasn't as birdy as we'd hoped, but we still had a great time.
This photo is of the feeders up Madera Canyon.
Dave posed at the gift store with his new friend.
We wandered around the woods looking at birds. They would cleverly watch to see when Dave put his camera down. At that time, they'd come low to the ground and show off.
We went up to the end of Madera Canyon and chased an Elegant Trogan around. We never saw him, but heard him for some time.
We stopped in at this little place as we'd done years ago. This is where the Flame-Colored Tanager used to visit. Turns out the last time he was seen was when we were here a few years back.
We hiked around the park/trails at the base of the canyon. This area was a birdy as the canyon.
Beautiful views
And rain. We got some rain and Arizona NEEDS the rain.
Next up, we drove further south to Patagonia. We stopped at all the usual locations.
We stayed at a B&B in town. Cute place!
The B&B had a gorgeous backyard.
Patagonia is a small funky place. I really dug it. Some funny places for sure.
By the market.
We went into a little museum of sorts. This was a photo of the patagonia jail cave from the early 1900s. It was thought to have deterred folks from committing crimes (but we all know prison of any sort doesn't do much for deterrence).
The backyard of the B&B had some fun art.
Back in the B&B
And out to the Nature Conservancy area. Here is Dave chasing some bird.
Looking for birds...
We spent the end of our trip at Patagonia State Park. It was an, uh, experience. :)
Being at the park was like being in nature...with 10,000 of your noisiest neighbors. :)
Still, we found some nice places to sit and watch birds away from the madness.
And happily, Dave had selected what had to be the choicest campsite there. It was pretty quiet where we were.
Cool signage at Patagonia
Looking for birds!
Double selfie! Seriously, don't you think we are starting to look alike!?!?
We drove around looking for birds where ever we thought them may be.
We did find some birds!
House Wren
White-Breasted Nuthatch
Gila Woodpecker
BOBCAT!
Vermillion Flycatcher. Each one you see is as spectacular as the first.
Vermillion Flycatcher.
Pretty Say's Phoebe. This is the photo that Dave got when I took the photo of him in the field chasing birds upthread.
